A Period of Quiescence (II)

Created as part of the “Art of Letters: Symbiosis III” exhibition, Period of Quiescence II is the second work in Natalia’s calligraphic series, continuing her exploration of the frozen rosebud. Here, the form is almost entirely concealed beneath layers of text, shifting the focus toward what is obscured rather than revealed. Taking a more experimental approach, she works into the surface to recreate the depth and texture of ice, building the piece through layered acrylic sheets that introduce a sense of distance and enclosure. The lettering, adapted and translated into Italian and Spanish, becomes more dominant, overtaking what lies beneath and reflecting a state where something is held in suspension, not absent but not yet able to fully surface.
